I was lucky enough to travel to Milan for work last week. Strangely enough I wasn't overly excited, as from a little bit of research I thought it looked a bit like a non-descript industrial city - I was really happy to be wrong! It was beautiful. Really unconventional and filled with lots of original, stylish little cafes, bars and shops. It felt like you could really get lost exploring and stumble across lots of hidden gems in the process, not a feeling often felt as a tourist. We managed to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing around working and eat lots of lovely Italian food. I will definitely be back to see what else I can discover (and get a bit of shopping in next time!)

City to Summit
My very clever husband Pete completed his first ironman last weekend. It was a swim in the Firth of Forth (a balmy 9 degrees Celsius brrrr), a cycle from South Queensferry to Fort William (over 100 miles), then just a little jog (27 miles) taking in the top of Ben Nevis! Eeek! I was so impressed, he was smiling the whole way round :) It has inspired me to buck up my ideas, get outside, do some exercise and eat much more healthily. The other supporters were particularly inspiring, in a range of outdoorsy-kit, (and one girl doing Yoga whilst she was waiting) they looked like a cover of Men's/Women's Health magazine!
Pete's Dad and I meanwhile enjoyed the time between pitstops with some good snacks, coffee, banter and a bit of sunbathing. We also appreciated the spectacular scenary that the race took in, what a beautiful country Scotland is.
Oh and he finished 17th (!!!)

York Vintage Festival
Sorry for the lack of posts recently, life got in the way and it became at bit humdrum/mundane of late. However, I can't wait to share with you the photos from my latest vintage adventure.
The York Festival of Vintage!
Yes, you read that correctly, a whole festival dedicated to vintage lovelieness. There were vintage collections, vintage hair and makeup, vintage cinema, dance displays and lessons, fashion shows and hundreds of stalls selling vintage clothes and homewares. Oh my, I was in heaven! There were so many people who went to an amazing amount of effort to dress up. I donned a headscarf and some red lippie! I am in the process of doing up the spare room with a more vintage/retro theme so bought loads of goodies. Once I am happy with it, I will blog some pictures! Meanwhile, feast your eyes on these....
